What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device to remember information about you, for example your language preference or whether you are signed in. The WoopDrive website also uses two related browser storage technologies, localStorage and sessionStorage, which serve a similar purpose but live in your browser rather than being sent back to our servers automatically.
When we say "cookies" in this policy, we generally mean all three: traditional cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage. Where the difference matters (for example, what is sent to our servers versus kept only on your device), we say so explicitly.
Categories of cookies we use
We group what we store on your device into three categories:
- Strictly necessary: required for the website and the booking flow to work. These cannot be turned off without breaking core functionality (sign-in, language, checkout flow).
- Analytics: optional. Help us understand how the website is used so we can improve it. These are off by default and only run if you accept them in the consent banner.
- Third-party functional: services we embed for specific features (payments, identity verification, partner logos). These run only when you reach the relevant page or step.
We do not currently run advertising cookies, ad-retargeting pixels, social media tracking pixels, or session-recording tools on the WoopDrive website. If that changes in the future, this policy will be updated and where required by law, we will ask for your consent again.
Strictly necessary
These items are stored on your device whenever you use the WoopDrive website, regardless of consent, because the site cannot function without them. Where the law allows, we rely on the "strictly necessary" exception in the ePrivacy framework for these.

Analytics (optional, consent-based)
We may use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website (which pages they visit, how they got here, what works and what does not). These tools are loaded only if you accept analytics cookies in the consent banner. By default, they are not loaded and no analytics data is sent.
If analytics is enabled by your consent, Google Tag Manager loads its container script from googletagmanager.com and Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_<id>, used to distinguish unique visitors and aggregate visit statistics. Data processed by Google is governed by Google's own privacy terms.
If you have not seen a consent banner, analytics is not active in your session. You can change your choice at any time, see "How to manage your choice" below.
Third-party functional services
Some pages embed services from trusted third parties. These run only when you reach the page or step that uses them. We do not control what cookies these third parties set inside their own iframes, but we list them so you know what to expect.

These services have their own privacy policies. If you do not reach the relevant step (for example, you never start a booking), the corresponding service is never loaded.
Your consent
When you first visit the website you may see a consent banner asking whether you accept analytics cookies. Strictly necessary items listed above are stored regardless, because they are required for the site to work. Analytics cookies only run if you accept.
Your choice is saved in wd_cookie_consent_v1 (see the table above). It is remembered for 12 months unless you clear your browser storage or change your choice.
You can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we have already done while consent was active, but it stops future analytics tracking.
How to manage your choice
You have several ways to control cookies and similar storage:
- Change your choice on this site: clear your browser's site data for woopdrive.com (or test.wpd.iotthings.eu while we are in beta), and the consent banner will reappear on your next visit.
- Block all cookies in your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Be aware that blocking strictly necessary items will break sign-in, language, and the booking flow.
- Use private or incognito mode: nothing is persisted between sessions. You will see the consent banner every time.
- Withdraw consent or contact us: email hello@woopdrive.com if you want help controlling what is stored.
Browser settings vary; the relevant page is usually called Privacy, Cookies, or Site data. For mobile, look in your browser app settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we add new features, change service providers, or when laws change. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the current version. If we make material changes, we will surface a notice on the website and where required, ask for your consent again.
